The FutureFWD Review and Next Steps Report is now available!

Background

Last year, MTM Consulting partnered with Warwick Independent Schools Foundation.  Through their inaugural FutureFWD conference, they aimed to look at education afresh. What should we be doing in our schools to enable our young learners to make fulfilling contributions to their future workplaces and the communities where they live?

Leaders from industry, business, and cultural sectors, entrepreneurs, curriculum designers, and politicians and civil leaders, gathered in Warwick in July 2022 to debate these vital topics.

MTM Consulting prepared a survey to find out from parents what they think the future holds, and what they think the children of today need to learn to prepare them for an unknown future.  We invited 500 parents from across the UK to complete our survey via an online portal, with initial findings presented to the FutureFWD conference in July 2022.

Review and Next Steps

The Review and Next Steps Report makes for a fascinating read, including a number of key recommendations for education leaders in the areas of Arts and Culture, Business and Industry, Curriculum and Learning, Entrepeneurship, Leadership and Technical Progression.  The Report also points to new areas of discussion to be raised in the next FutureFWD Conference, to be held on 3-4 July 2023.

What Next?

We will be continuing to work with Warwick Independent Schools Foundation on a major survey, to be presented at the 2023 conference. This survey will look at:

Parental attitudes to preparing children for the future workplace and associated skills
Current and desired for careers guidance in primary settings
Examples of strong industry/business links in schools
Attitudes to AI and Ed Tech amongst: parents, pupils, teachers, school leaders
