The MTM Team is proud to announce our partnership with The Sick Children’s Trust for the academic year of 2023/2024.
When a child suddenly becomes seriously ill, there’s no time to plan. The Sick Children’s Trust is the charity that gives families one less thing to worry about by giving them a comfortable place to stay, and someone to talk to, free of charge just minutes from their child’s bedside. Their ten ‘Homes from Home’ support families from around the UK each year.
Why we Have Chosen our Charity of the Year
The cause holds a special place in our hearts, as The Sick Children’s Trust provided invaluable support to our Managing Director, James Leggett, and his family during a challenging time. When James’ son was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of 18 months, the added stress of finding affordable accommodation near the hospital at such short notice was overwhelming. However, The Sick Children’s Trust stepped in, offering them a lifeline – a key to a flat that would be their home for as long as needed.
The Trust’s generosity extended beyond mere lodging, as the flat came equipped with a bedside phone directly connected to Henry’s ward and homecooked meals waiting in the fridge after long days. This extraordinary support lifted a significant burden from the family, allowing them to focus on their son’s well-being without the added stress of accommodation and logistics.
The compassion shown by The Sick Children’s Trust made a world of difference during this difficult period, forever leaving a lasting impact on James, who still proudly wears his Sick Children’s Trust wristband every day.
How We Will Help
Over the year we will be engaging in fundraising activities, and clients will have opportunities to contribute to the cause.
